After years of efforts to increase the number of women working on NFL teams, two will take the field for Super Bowl LV as assistant coaches for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jen Welter was the first woman ever hired to coach in the NFL. Katie Sowers was the first woman to coach in a Super Bowl with the 49ers in 2020. Now, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take the field for Super Bowl LV, two women will be coaching on the sidelines. Welter and Bowers share their thoughts on the challenges that remain in building a network of viable career paths for women in the NFL.
